Log Sheet #4

Describe briefly what you read today:
I have nothing too read anymore, Im dont my book.

How do you feel about how the novel ends? If you were the author would you end the novel in the same way? Be as specific as possible.

I was very interested in the ending, I really didn't see it coming. But it was pretty good.
I dont think I would of ended it the way the author did, Like I do like the ending and all , and it did go with the book. But i didn't see it coming and ending like it did.

What, in your opinion, makes your author a good (or poor!) writer?
The author is a really really good writer, I will never think different! I see her writing very good books for others ages. Like this book was make for high school kids, and adults.
Not for yonger kids.
But i can see her making books for babies, and little kids.

LogSheet #3

Describe briefly what you read today:

I've read all my book, there is nothing else i need to read. I pretty much know alot of the book already just from reading it for about a month.

In what way do you think you are very like or very unlike the main character? Explain:

I'm not like any of them, they are all lies, and cheaters. Only Robin isnt any of them , so maybe I'm kinda like her.

Describe the main problem faced by one or more characters.

The problem of this book, is that EVERYONE is a lie, & cheaters.
Thats what this book is all about. Drama.

Log Sheet #2

Describe briefly what you read today:
Well, i'm almost done, i have like 3 more chapters to read then my book is done. Every night before I go to bed, im reading alot of my book.

Discuss your writer’s use of vocabulary. Does he or she use any unfamiliar words? Are you able to figure out unfamiliar words by using logic? Give Examples.

Predict what you think will happen next.

Part C*

1 What are the scenes, incidents or moments which you remember most vividly?
Pretty much the whole story is when this person did this or that person did that. Why do people always get cheated on? I really dont understand why!?

2 Can you identify any important theme or idea with which the novel deals? Do the problems or issues get resolved or are they simply explored?
There are almost of problems in this book, first Robins dad's new girlfriend/wife cheated on him, with the boy next door.
And plenty more cheating,fight etc.

3 Did you learn anything from the story that you did not know before? Explain (this could be facts or simply seeing something from a different perspective?)
That cheating is the worst thing you could probably do. Lieing, back talking to people/parents.

4 Does the novel interest you, irritate you or both? Explain
It interest me alot. I really do like this book, it's very interesting with everything everyone talks about in the story.

5 If you could be any character in the novel, who would you be? Why that character?
I dont think i wanna be any of them, cause they are all cheaters and lies, besides Robin the daughter. Maybe i want to be her, but thinking about it, not really.
She has a crush on the boy next door, and the way he sounds in the book makes me think hes a pretty boy.

6 Would you like to read more books from the same author? Why?
Yes! The author of this book is great! Everything in this book is right in there, all about teenagers and pretty much what some of them are like.

7 Explain why the novel did or did not end the way you had hoped it would.
They boy next door, ditches out on the dad's girlfriend/wife, and tells Robin that " your dad can have her" but they father doesnt want Janice back! Cause shes nothing but a cheater!

8 Can you imagine yourself reading the novel again in 10 years? Would you suggest it to a friend? Explain.
Yes! actually my friend told me this is a great book, at first when i look at this cover it didnt look like a great book, until ... i finally started reading it more, and more each day in class.
And it's a really good book, i think i will be giving it to a friend to read.

Frankies wearing the same kind of jeans, guy version, and bluish green silky tee. Im almost done the book!

Did today’s reading manage to capture your attention, or did it feel like work? Explain.

Summer Holidays

This summer, I want to travel to Orlando with my mom and dad. so we can go see my Aunt
in her new nursing home. I would love to go see the Sea World, where you can get to see all types of fish. I even want to see the actual ocean, and let my brother meet a shark (that's a joke!!!) It better be a very great summer vacation anyone could hope to have, ever. I want to be able to swim in the water and make sand castles. There are alot of friendly dolphins at Sea World. I started to read and learn that ocean water gets foamy and red when you put blood in it. So that means that the shark will come faster for you.

Series of Paragraphs

Series of Paragraphs

Write a series of paragraphs (at least 3) expressing an opinion on the following topic:

Should boys and girls be required to attend separate high schools?
Well , if the boys and the girls dont get along then maybe you should think about putting them in a reparate high school?
Cause say if one boy and one girl get into a fight , then they will always have that on their mind. But if the girls and the boys are separated from eachother then maybe their is a chance of boys and girls getting along better .
But your gonna have to think about
* Are you sure you want to have your child in that high school?
OR
* Do you want your child to be able to handle her/him self?
So make sure everyone think hard about it . Cause for me, i will NOT put my child in that persession where she is only going to be able to see girls, cause then she will only have girls has friends. And I don't want that . Everyone has the right to be friends with everyone and anybody.

Use a piece of paper to plan your answer before you write. Your series of paragraphs should be organised the same as our sample series of paragraphs. Your final post should look like the sample essay. Keep in mind that for the series of pargraphs each paragraph should be a minimum of 3 to 4 sentences. The sentences must be together in the same way that they are in this paragraph.

Making Full Sentences
Mrs. Martin and I were really pleased with the way everyone applied themselves to the "Writing Conventions" activity. Given that we keep running into incomplete sentences, we thought it would be a good idea to provide you with some extra practice. Please cut and paste the following list of incomplete sentences into a new post in your blog. You can call it "Making Full Sentences." Turn each incomplete sentence into a full sentence. Some sentences may be fine just as they are. If a sentence does not need to be fixed, just leave it as is. (You could put "Ok, as is" after it). Remember, a sentence is a complete idea. As always, spell check before you post.

Introduction to the News Report

* Key information comes at the beginning *

- The most important information comes in the first sentence or two ( the lead )
The B.C Supreme Court is expected to decide Monday wether a who admitted killing his three children in Merritt should face life in prison.

- The information is presented most to least relevant
The fate of Allan Dwayne Schoenborn, 41, who has been tried on three counts of first-degree murder, is in the hands of B.C. Supreme Court Judge Robert Powers. Powers heard the case without a jury during the three-month trial in Kamloops.

- The reporter is not part of the story , ( the reporter writes , using " he", "she", "they", "I" or "me" )
Powers is expected to decide whether Schoenborn was driven by mental illness or more sinister motives when he stabbed his 10-year-old daughter to death and smothered his eight- and five-year-old sons, whose bodies were found in their mobile home in Merritt in April 2008.
The deaths shocked the small ranching community of Merritt, located about 270 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.
Defence lawyers argued that Schoenborn should not be held criminally responsible for the deaths because he is mentally ill.

- The reporter gives as many facts and details as possible .

The Crown, however, said the killings were an act of revenge against Schoenborn's estranged partner for refusing to renew her relationship with him.Allan Schoenborn pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his children. (CBC)
Both the Crown and the defence had psychiatrists testify about Schoenborn's mental state leading up to and during the slayings.
The defence expert cited Schoenborn's history of schizophrenia and said he was delusional when he killed his children.
The Crown's psychiatrist agreed the defendant suffered from mental illness but said it was not possible to tell whether he was of sound mind the night of the killings.

- Reporters try to include either direct or indirect quotations .

This happen in British Columbia , and a father of three kids , 2 boys 1 girl ; that he murdered .

Why do you think Mrs.Martin and Mr. Pierce chose this flim for the class ?

Because it has to do with English...and witing .

Did watching this film change the way you think about high school or teachers or education?

No, not at all! There would have to be more then, the volience to change about the way i think about high school, or education :)

At what point did the students start learning from their teachers? What changed?
the cryin

Right before Spring. They changed alot in the time they were with there teacher!

Does seeing this film make you feel any differently about your own opportunities in high school or in class?

No , but it made me feel really weird inside. i felt like crying inside, when i saw them not letting the teacher take them on trips, or read books. that was really upsetting.
